Quba Castle: Historic Military Fortress in Madinah

Quba Castle is one of the largest military fortresses in Madinah, located in the southern part of the city in the Quba area. The castle overlooks the Quba road, which leads to the neighborhood of Al-Dawimah, just before the Friday Mosque. It was actively used between 1279-1284 AH (1862-1867 CE) and served as a guard center during the reign of King Abdulaziz Al Saud.

During King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s reign, the castle’s outer plateau was utilized to position the Ramadan cannon. The fortress has since been renovated as part of the Saudi government’s efforts to preserve and restore several historic sites in Madinah.
