Masjid Abu Bakr – Historic Mosque in Madinah

Masjid Abu Bakr is a historic mosque located in Madinah, near the city market and southwest of the Prophet’s Mosque. It was originally built during the caliphate of Al-Walid ibn Abdul-Malik. When Omar ibn Abdul-Aziz was governor of Madinah (706-712 CE), he ordered the renovation of all mosques where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prayed.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) performed Eid prayers at this mosque. Abu Bakr followed the example of the Prophet in praying here. The mosque has been renovated many times during the Saudi era.
