Jabal Arafat – The Mountain and Gathering Place of Pilgrims

This place is also called Jabal Arafat. At the top, there is a modern marker that is four meters tall to show the location. It is north of the plain of Arafat and outside the sacred area.

Jabal Arafat is a small mountain, only about thirty meters high. It is hard to climb, so there are more than 91 steps to help people reach the top.

The whole area of Arafat is where pilgrims gather to stand during Hajj. Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"I have stood here, and all of Arafat is a place for standing."
