Hudaybiyyah: The Historic Site of the Pledge of Ridwan

Hudaybiyyah is a significant location situated approximately 24 kilometers west of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, along the old road to Jeddah. In the year 6 AH (627 CE), Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions camped here, intending to perform Umrah. However, they were prevented from entering Makkah by the Quraysh tribe.

During this time, rumors spread that Uthman ibn Affan (RA), the Prophet's envoy, had been killed by the Quraysh. In response, the Prophet (PBUH) called upon his companions to pledge allegiance under a tree, vowing to stand firm in the face of adversity. This pledge, known as the Pledge of Ridwan, was a testament to their unwavering commitment to Islam Ahabal Balad.

Following this event, the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was negotiated between the Muslims and the Quraysh, establishing a ten-year truce and setting the stage for the peaceful spread of Islam Makkah City Commission.

Today, Hudaybiyyah, now known as Ash-Shumaysi, stands as a reminder of the dedication and sacrifices made by the early Muslims in the path of faith.
