Dhul-Tuwa Valley – A Historic Stop of the Prophet (PBUH) in Makkah

Dhul-Tuwa is a valley in Makkah. It was named after a well there, which was covered with stones. The well was dug by Abd Shams ibn Abd Manaf ibn Qusayy, and his daughter, Sabi’a, proudly mentioned it in a poem.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stayed near the well of Tuwa on the night he arrived for the Umrah of Qada and also during the Farewell Hajj. He also stopped there on the Day of the Conquest of Makkah to prepare his army before entering the city.

Abdullah ibn Omar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (PBUH) would sleep at Dhul-Tuwa and pray Fajr there when arriving in Makkah. His prayer place was on a thick hill, not inside the mosque that was built later, but lower down the hill.
