This place is located north of the Prophet’s Mosque and is very important in the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is near Mount Uhud. The Prophet said about this mountain:
"A mountain that loves us and we love it."
The Battle of Uhud happened here in the month of Shawwal in the third year of Hijra (625 CE). More than seventy companions died in this battle. Their graves are at this site. Among them were Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib, known as "The Lion of Allah" and "The Master of the Martyrs," and Musab ibn Umair.
Allah said in the Quran about the battle:
"And when a disaster struck you, although you had struck [the enemy] with one twice as great, you said, ‘From where is this?’ Say, ‘It is from yourselves.’ Indeed, Allah is over all things competent."
(Surah Al-Imran, 3:165)
