Al-Abwa’ is a large valley in the Hijaz region, now called Al-Khuraybah. It is where the grave of Amina bint Wahb, the mother of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is located.
Al-Abwa’ was the site of the Prophet’s first military campaign in the second year of Hijra (624 CE). Before Islam, it was a caravan route between Makkah and Madinah. After Islam, it became an important route for pilgrims traveling between these two cities.
